The Coin That Changed Everything

Overview

The creation of our video digital artifact was overseen by Aryan and Xin. Our team created a powerful visual identity with the digital artifact, essentially a trailer for our narrative and other artifacts. It is a dynamic visual and auditory experience that ties in artifacts from our narrative and development process neatly. Our team also created a personal VR headset for accessibility, directly used for this artifact.

Role of 3D Visuals

These assets, including detailed landscapes, a realistic sea, mountain, and a game asset pirate ship, and coins were sourced as static 3D models from Sketchfab's free online repository. (sketchfab.com)

VR Headset

To enhance the inviting atmosphere, we attempted to create our own VR headset. It came from the need to make our design more accessible to the general audiences.

Animation

Our team introduced subtle yet impactful animations in Spline. The ocean was animated to simulate soft, continuous waves, infusing the scene with natural motion. The pirate ship was animated to move alongside the ocean —bringing a sense of urgency, engaging our users. The script and dialogue of the narrative pull users in, while the music keeps them tense.

Sound

The background music plays a key role in deciding how the user feels. The trailer is designed to make the user feel intrigued and engaged at all points. The music is upbeat to draw the users in, and give the story meaning.

The assets of coins, ships, and ocean all tie into the story and the narrative arc that our main characters have.
